Decription: | Our well-established client in the Travel and Tourism industry is looking for an energetic HR Manager who is passionate about nurturing culture and developing people, someone who builds relationships of trust and is progressive in their thinking about HR and the role to be played as well as being enthusiastic about people. You will be responsible for the provision of an effective “people partnering” function that is aligned with departmental, regional and company strategic goals. An essential element of the role includes the successful implementation of the HR Strategy, partnering with the business to find fit-for-purpose solutions that achieve organisational goals, and driving people capability across the business. Building strong business partnerships, stakeholder engagement, trusted advisory, and confidentiality, are crucial for the role. Duties and responsibilities (include but are not limited to): • Development and on-going actioning of an employee-orientated company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, as well as high performance. • Formulate, update and recommend HR policies and objectives for the company on any topic associated with employee relations and employee rights. • Partner with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs, and law, and drive the enforcement and implementation of these. • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish positive employer-employee relationships to promote a high level of employee morale and motivation. This includes the conducting of periodic surveys to measure employee satisfaction and employee engagement, with the development and implementation of action plans (in conjunction with management), to address areas identified. • Development and management of annual Talent Management and Performance Management system and approach, adapting it as required to meet the needs of the business. • Development and/or identification of and training on a coaching/feedback framework for managers. • On-going coaching of managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them. • Conduct investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth. • Revision and on-going updating of the Company’s Code of Conduct and advising management in the application of the Company’s Code of Conduct, where required. • Review employee appeals through the company complaint procedure. • Manage and drive employee relations including compliance with local labour laws; implementation of local policies; advice and guidance to managers and staff; management of staff committees and collective consultation; guidance and support on standard disciplinary matters. • Maintenance of the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions. • Consolidation and updating of the Company Organisational structure document on a regular basis for the local office (Cape Town). • Coach and discipline employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counselling employees and supervisors. • Create and maintain relationships with employee benefit program service providers. Drive the implementation and maintenance of employee benefit programs and recommend benefit programs and/or amendments/updates to management. • Ensure legal compliance through monitoring and implementing applicable HR requirements in terms of the South African Labour Law; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organisation at hearings and managing any disputes. • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending HR policies and procedures. • Assist the Payroll Administrator with maintaining HR documents, files and updates; keeping past and current records and ensuring employee files are up to date. • Provide assistance to the responsible executive to ensure Health and Safety protocols are in place. • Ad hoc projects as may be directed from time to time by the Group HR. • Support Group HR on all employee growth and development programs and talent management processes, including any training to be rolled out or implemented for employee development. • Engage with and drive middle management talent to increase retention, growth and development. • Develop, implement and manage an employee wellness framework that is suitable for the Company. Recruitment and Termination • Ownership of and accountability for the full recruitment process, from job descriptions and dealing with recruitment agencies, through to interview processes and closing. • Maintain organisational staff by establishing a recruiting and interviewing program; counselling managers on candidate selection and providing support and assistance during the interview phase. • On termination of employment, the conducting of all exit interviews, recommending changes and working with the relevant people to implement the changes. • Assist managers with any requirements for the termination of any employee contracts. • Management of recruitment agencies. • Manage database of external talent and relationships with identified individuals. Legal and Compliance • Keep abreast of South African employment law and inform group HR of changes in legislation. • Oversee the maintenance of relationships with local authorities on employment matters, when required. • Manage and oversee Labour disputes should these arise, with support from Group HR, Senior Management, and/or the Legal Team, as required. • Supervision of all probation periods expiries and contract periods, working with line managers on appropriate action, and effecting action required. • Guidance and overall accountability to ensure that all employees have valid contracts, dealing with expiring contracts and renewals, and advising on implications of repeated renewals. Internal Communications • Assist with the upkeep of the staff notice board / general update emails on organisational matters. • Regular communication with management on staff matters. • Promote and support the internal communication between the commercial office and the rest of the organisation. Group HR Support • Provide regular support to Group HR. • Carry out any HR/internal communication tasks/duties assigned by Group HR. Reporting • Provide regular updates on HR matters, per standardized dashboards / KPIs.
